Proventure has significant experience of recruiting non-executive board members for public and public-private organisations. We believe recruiting to such positions requires a different approach to executive recruitment and that this is an area in which organisations can benefit from external consultancy support.
This case study describes how we helped a couple of organisations in different sectors.

An RDA backed, private sector company managing the investment of £100m to roll out a next generation broadband infrastructure across South Yorkshire – serving 4 local authorities and 1.3 million citizens, 540,000 homes and 40,000 businesses.  From conception to creation the company took more than 5 years.  With a cynical telecoms market, frustrated partners and demanding residents, this project needed to find highly credible professionals who would deliver.

Recruiting non-exec directors is a specialised version of executive recruiting. The right people are usually very busy, and are often not easy to contact. Recruiting them require a lightness of touch, keen detective skills and the ability to clearly point out the rewards (often not monetary) of putting something back into the community.

With the semi-retirement of the current Director of Strategy, and the consolidation of Sustainable Futures, an organisation centred around sustainable waste management and energy, it was essential that Yorkshire Forward realised the creation of two new director level posts.

Cumbria Vision has been tasked with halting uneven economic development within Cumbria and replacing it with an overarching strategy for the region. To do this they were in need of a new Chair to provide the requisite leadership and a flexible partnership approach from Proventure.

NUSSL, a commercial business wholly-owned by the NUS and its member Students’ Unions, provides support to it's member Student Unions across the country, and plays an important role in the relationship between the members and their corporate suppliers.

Proventure was asked to find a new Chief Operating Officer for the organisation, and while doing this, we helped NUSSL determine the position in the marketplace.
